The CO detectors arrived very promptly and in good condition. The First Alert Store is a much easier source of CO and smoke detectors than I was able to locate on-line.
Our old alarm had reached its expiration. We ordered a new alarm at the First Alert online store. We received the replacement alarm in a few days, and installed it with no problems what so ever. Like the backlit battery life display.
The display is great and I think the AA batteries fit more secure than a 9 volt model. This is my third one I purchased!
Really great product at a great price!
Love the display to show battery level, Co level - current and peak. Removes all guess work. Battery compartment has easy access in the front. I like this model over my other First Alert unit models.
It wasMy local hardware store did not carry it that is why I ordered online. It replaced my old one and I amhappy it mounted with the same screws on the same centers as the old one.
Customer service was efficient and helpful. The alarm was delivered VERY fast and works perfectly. I've dealt with you guys before and this experience was the same--excellent!
Consumer Reports rates this CO alarm as the best stand alone battery operated one. Yes, there are more highly rated CO alarms, but they must be connected to a house electrical circuit. Also, it is less expensive than many of the others. Since the experts recommend that each bedroom and hallway have a CO alarm, most homes need at least 4 or more of these. So the savings on this alarm are actually increased by at lest 4 fold.
Simple to put up. Diections essy to follow. Like AA battery rather than nine volt
I bought this to replace an older First Alert CO detector that had reached end of life. It fit on the same mounting screws as the old one and the LED screen is a nice upgrade. It lets you know when the battery is low before it starts chirping at 1am.
This was a perfect replacement for a CO400 that reached its end of life. The mounting holes lined up perfectly, and the unit was easy to start and test. I like the display.
Worked right out of the box. It even came with batteries. Great!
The detector was shipped on time and it worked great out of the box. I like the fact that it uses less expensive AA batteries which can be easily accessed and replaced in front of the unit. I hope it lasts me as long as the older model I replaced.
Appears to be working as advertised.
Purchased 4 of these with mfgr date in early 2011. Installed upon receipt. First of them just gave End Of Life signal, almost exactly 9 years later. No problem with any of them over that time. Easy to use and install, that's why I'm replacing old ones with the same thing.
Complete
This my 3 rd purchase and very happy the alarm has never gone off!!!
Here are a few situations that may cause a carbon monoxide alarm "false alarm:"
- The carbon monoxide alarm needs to be relocated. Carbon monoxide alarms should be located 15-20 feet away from all fossil fuel burning sources like furnaces and stoves. Alarms should be located 10 feet away from sources of humidity like showers.
- Fossil fuel burning appliances may not be burning fuel completely. Check pilot lights/flames for blue color. Appearance of yellow or orange flames indicates incomplete combustion-a source of carbon monoxide.
Battery Operated Carbon Monoxide Alarm with Backlit Digital Display
Be alerted to dangerous carbon monoxide leaks with the First Alert CO410 Battery-Operated Carbon Monoxide Alarm with Backlit Digital Display. This carbon monoxide detector uses an electrochemical carbon monoxide sensor. An easy-to-read backlit digital display allows a quick view of current and peak CO levels. This unit is powered by two replaceable AA batteries, offering peace of mind even during power outages.
Advanced Electrochemical CO Sensor
The First Alert CO410 Battery-Operated Carbon Monoxide Alarm uses an advanced electrochemical CO sensor to detect elevated carbon monoxide levels. When CO is detected, the carbon monoxide detector sounds an alarm to warn you of the threat. Carbon monoxide can't be seen, smelled, or tasted in the air, and it is the leading cause of accidental poisoning deaths in America. Placing carbon monoxide detectors on every floor of the home and in each sleeping room is an important way to protect your family from danger.
Easy-to-Read Digital Display
Thanks to the unit's backlit LED display, it's easy to see the current CO concentrations in parts per million, as well as recent peak levels, and the threshold for dangerous levels. The easy-to-read display illuminates when a button is pressed or an alarm is triggered. A remote control can be used to quiet unwanted alarms (remote control sold separately).
Comprehensive Warning Features
When carbon monoxide levels rise, the carbon monoxide detector sounds an 85-decibel siren that is designed to wake even the soundest of sleepers. A low-battery alarm alerts you when battery power is running low, and an end-of-life timer lets you know when the device should be replaced. A low battery signal mute quiets the low battery signal for up to eight hours. Each CO detector lasts approximately five years.
Simple and Easy to Use
The First Alert CO410 Carbon Monoxide Alarm is easy to set up. Simply insert the two included AA batteries, and the CO detector will start to monitor your space for carbon monoxide. An EZ access battery door allows you to quickly install or remove batteries without having to dismount the alarm. A single button silences the alarm and tests the CO detector.
