The First Alert PC900 Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm provides maximum protection and has a new sleek, slimmer design, which adds an element of style to safety. The PC900 has a modern, thin square design that's less than an inch thick (half the size of a standard alarm), while still providing all the protection you need to keep what matters most safe and secure. The PC900 is unique because it features (2) alarm systems that work independently to detect both evidence of fire and carbon monoxide (CO) through the electrochemical carbon monoxide sensor and patented smoke entry system that allows a direct smoke path to the photoelectric sensor to detect regular and slow, smoldering fires. The combination of the smoke and CO (carbon monoxide) sensor and First Alert's Nuisance Free Technology will reduce false alarms that result from cooking and shower steam.
This combination alarm includes power LED and alarm indicator, end of life signal and mute and silence button so you can test your alarm regularly. Installation is simple with the versatile wall and ceiling mount and the easy slide-in mounting bracket. This alarm has a white finish, powered by (2) 'AA' batteries (included), weighs only 0.56-pounds and measures 4.92-inches long by 4.92-inches wide by .94-inches high. First Alert Maximum Protection Alarms are the newest tech creation to provide a modern safety solution in the fire safety industry. The First Alert PC900 Maximum Protection Battery Powered Slim Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Combination Alarm comes with a 7-year limited warranty that protects against defects in material and workmanship.

We bought this product because First Alert carries many options for photoelectric smoke alarms, which are recommended. We love the low profile and combination CO2 option.

Actual battery service life depends on the particular design of your smoke or carbon monoxide alarm and the environment in which it is installed. All kinds of alarm batteries specified in the user's manual are acceptable replacement batteries. Regardless of the manufacturer's suggested battery life, you MUST replace the batteries immediately once the unit starts "chirping" (the "low battery warning"). It is recommended that you change the batteries in your alarms when you change your clocks for daylight saving time. Also consider replacing your current alarms with 10-Year Life Alarms that never require a costly battery replacement for the ten year life of the alarm. This 10-Year series is available in smoke, carbon monoxide and combination alarms.
Other reasons include: It could be a different device or appliance such as a security system, monitor, carbon monoxide alarm, or other device which has a similar low battery or alert signal. Some of the same factors that cause unwanted alarms can cause intermittent alarms: dust and insects in the alarm or power interruptions in hardwired alarms. Improper wiring on AC or AC/DC smoke alarms. AC alarms will chirp every 5 seconds if the interconnect wire is grounded. The orange interconnect wire should NEVER be grounded; it should only be used to interconnect other smoke alarms or compatible devices.
