First Alert 2096DF Water, Fire, and Theft Digital Safe
The First Alert 2096DF is part of the exclusive line of waterproof fire safes. The 2096DF offers a complete security solution for the three major hazards: theft, flood and fire. The safe's anti-theft features include patented pry-resistant concealed hinges, a programmable (use your own personal 3 to 8 digit pass-code), digital lock and 6 door locking bolts. This First Alert 2.13 cubic foot fire safe is UL classified for 1 hour to withstand an external temperature of 1700° Fahrenheit while maintaining an internal temperature of less than 350°. The safe has been tested by an independent testing lab and verified to protect digital media including memory sticks, CD's, DVD's and external hard drives. The composite construction with water tight seal prevents water damage to the contents caused by flooding or by water used in fighting a fire. This waterproof safe will float making it easy to find during a flood, and it will remain dry inside even if fully submerged. The safe also includes an override key that will open the safe if the passcode is forgotten or the batteries go dead. The 2096DF also includes a removable extendable handle with two wheels so that it can be easily moved.

The safe is also verified by an independent testing lab to protect CDs, DVDs, external hard drives, and other electronic media from fire damage. An adjustable storage shelf and a key rack ensure quick-and-easy access to stored items.
Durable Pry-Resistant Construction
Crafted from durable composite, the 2096DF Digital Safe features patented pry-resistant concealed hinges that make entry by crowbar difficult. Four live-locking door bolts provide additional security by firmly locking the door in place.
Programmable Lock Deters Thieves
A programmable electronic lock allows you to select your own three- to eight-digit code for access to the safe. The lock will disable the keypad if an incorrect code is entered too many times.
Fire Resistant for up to One Hour
This fire-resistant safe has been independently verified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to withstand external temperatures of up to 1700° Fahrenheit for up to one hour while maintaining an internal temperature of less than 350° Fahrenheit.

Q: How can I replace the keys or get the combination to my safe?
A: If you misplaced your keys, or forgot the combination to your safe, please fill out the Combination/Key Request Form, have it notarized and submit the completed form via email, mail, or fax. Contact information may be found on the form.
Q: Where do I find the serial number for my safe?
A: On the bottom right hand corner on the front of the safe or the right wall on the outside of the safe. It is located on a silver sticker (usually 6-10 digits).
Q: Where can I find the key number?
A:
- Engraved on the key itself.
- Engraved on the lock cylinder.
- Engraved underneath the black plastic cap that says digital electronic safes.
- The silver sticker on the bottom right hand corner of the Anti-Theft Safes.
- On the key cover.
Q: The door to my First Alert safe is stuck, what should I do?
A: This may happen if the bars do not disengage fully. You can try one of the following:
- Insert your override key (the one with the square top) and while turning the key take a flathead screwdriver and insert it in the crack of the door and slowly pry it open.
- Another method is to lay your First Alert safe on the right hand side and using the over ride key open the door.
Q: My key is not broken, but it does not work in the safe. What should I do?
A: It may be possible that some debris/dust is caught in the lock of your unit. Please try the following:
- Check the engraved key number and verify it matches the engraved letter on the key cylinder.
- Spray WD-40 oil in the lock.
- Tap it lightly with a hammer.
- Try the key again. If the key still does not work please contact Consumer Affairs at 1-800-323-9005 for more information.
Q: My digital keypad won't work and I can't access my safe. What should I do?
A:
- Your batteries may be weak, try changing the batteries.
- Use your square top override key that came with your safe for immediate access.
- Contact Consumer Affairs at 1-800-323-9005 for more information.
Q: My safe is under warranty and it appears to be defective. How do I get a replacement?
A: If your First Alert Safe fails to operate because of a manufacturing defect, any time up to five (5) years from the date of original purchase, we will, at our discretion, repair or replace the unit at no charge to the original owner provided you return the product, shipping prepaid, to First Alert. You should contact Consumer Affairs Department at 1-800-323-9005 for prior authorization in advance and they will direct you on what steps to follow.

Family photos safe
Very good for keeping photos and other memories from being consumed by the fire or destroyed by the water. Mostly a plastic container that floats and it is supposed be water resistant.

Fire and Water safe
I bought this safe since it had the best ratings for fire resistance and water protection. I wanted to have a safe to keep my important papers in it and know they are protected in case of fire. As theft protection, it is poorly constructed, plastic case and pretty light. The safe even full slides very easily across carpeted floors and even hardwood floors so it can be carried out of the house very easily. A nice feature that it comes with rollers casters attached and a handle. It is very convenient for transporting it to the location desired but makes it easier to be carried out of the house too so I removed after I moved it in. The safe cannot be bolted to the floor or a back wall. I hope it is as good as it is rated for fire and water protection, although they recommend to put documents in gladware or other waterproof containers ?. The water seal does not look incouraging, the door, closed has play in it which makes me think the seal is questionable. The construstion is not sturdy, a lot of plastic parts and it does not look like it is going to last long or take abuse. So far everything works as it should but I got very disappointed when I received it. The front panel with keypad will surely be destroyed by fire, since it is plastic too. The deadbolts lock into plastic openings and if you close the door with the bolts extended you can damage it very easily. It is spacious, has two trays for light objects since they were already warped - plastic too with very bad clearances - had to deburr the trays to make them slide in and out. It has a tray for file hangers Why? Arent you supposed to put your docs in gladware????. Now i am planning to buy another safe for my handguns and valuables since this safe is mostly a fire safe. And I say this wihout knowing how this safe will look after a fire, can only say that the water from the fire department will probably get in without much effort.
