Great only? choice for HomeKit homes

I replaced my 3 existing hardwired smoke detectors since they were 14 years old with these. Thanks to the short adapter cables provided with the units, it was an easy plug-n-play install that took just a few minutes. I recommend wearing ear protection for initial setup and testing. I also waited until my wife had taken the kids for a walk. All 3 units worked as smoke/CO detectors when first powered up. One unit failed to connect to HomeKit on the first try, but after resetting the alarm 5 presses of the button it connected on the second try. I like the way the all the alarms announce the issue smoke/CO and its location. I also like the adjustable brightness of the nightlight, eliminating the need to install a nightlight in a dark hallway. In the Home app you'll see each unit as two sensors one smoke, one CO in whatever room you assigned each. I may decide to move them into their own HomeKit room to reduce the clutter of some of my fuller room displays. Note, the alarm location announcement is chosen independently of the assigned HomeKit room.

I installed two of these to replace older wired in alarms I had. Last week I also purchased two of the DC battery only units for two rooms that previously did not have alarms so no wiring. All alarms communicate well together. Hopefully these will last the full 10 years.

What are the basic iphone and system settings needed for this product?

iPhone 5s and above, iPad 3 and above, iPod Touch 5G and up with iOS9. Your ipone should have WiFi and Bluetooth turned On. Wifi Router running on 2.4 GHz range. If you use iCloud, you must also turn on Key Chain.

I just purchased a Onelink alarm, but it isn't connected to the Internet. What do I do?

If your alarm hasn't been added to a Onelink Account, follow these instructions to add it:

Download the Onelink app. Choose the Onelink product you purchased. Follow the instructions in the app to install and set-up

Why might I keep geting a message that states "Pairing Failed"?

Verify you are either scanning or entering in the correct pairing code. If you cannot get the unit to Pair via Bluetooth force close the app. IF YOU ARE USING iCloud YOU MUST ALSO TURN ON Apple Key Chain in your Settings. Then swipe away the Onelink Home App and start again after the pushing the alarm terst button 5 times to reset the alarm. Retry the pairing process now from the beginning.

Minimum coverage for Smoke Alarms, as recommended by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), is one Smoke Alarm on every floor, in every sleeping area, and in every bedroom (See "Regulatory Information For Smoke Alarms" for details on the NFPA recommendations). For CO Alarms, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends that a CO Alarm should be centrally located outside of each separate sleeping area in the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms. For added protection, install additional CO Alarms in each separate bedroom, and on every level of your home.
