Good for home security

I purchased this for some home security and find it to be adequate. Some issues are the field of vision is a bit more narrow, given the small space where Ive installed the camera. If the space had been larger, and I could have moved the camera further away from the area to be viewed, maybe that would have improved what I could capture. The camera itself is quite large and conspicuous, given that the lens area contains a red light when the camera is on, its hard to conceal it, as Id hoped to do. While I was able to hide it on a crowded shelf, the red light made it obvious. The recording itself was quite good, but the longest it will record once the motion sensor has activated, is 15 seconds. Someone moving out of the monitored space, into unmonitored space wont get picked up unless I install a 2nd camera unit. I would have liked to have the option to set a longer record time, so that even if I couldnt SEE, I could at least hear what was going on. The only way to capture more would be to have the camera recording non-stop, which isnt what I need. Also, it would be helpful if I could have easily located information as to how much recording time will fit on the included SD card. While I set the motion-sensed record time to its max of 15 secs, I didnt have confidence as to how much monitoring the card would hold - and I couldnt risk allowing the card to overwrite itself, lest I miss something. While not pointed directly at windows with wide-open blinds, the light filtering into the room adjacent to the monitored space, caused such a bright spot on the film that I couldnt actually see what happened in the adjacent room...the suspect walked, and disappeared, into a white cloud. Also, the controls are very unsophisticated, and the playback is choppy. Not having any experience with this kind of equipment, I had hoped for more, but I think I may simply need to manage my expectations. The remote control doesnt find the monitoring unit very easily and it takes several clicks to get the option I need. And maybe a higher-quality camera and/or SD card might improve the quality of video - not sure. Finally, I believe the instructions are written more toward people with experience in these devices. I would have appreciated a bit more of a security for dummies approach...I understand the what a lot more easily if I understand the why first. All in all, though, this is a good product for beginners. I think I am going to invest in 1 or 2 more cameras I believe they can easily be added to the system. I want to have one set to monitor the outside, but am concerned about the light glare that ruined an earlier recording. Well just have to see how it works.

Set up was very easy. Just plug together and turn it on. Night vision was much better than most I have seen.

Easy to set up, clear picture as well. The motion sensor works very fast. I wish it would record for a longer period of time,but the camera will reset and record another 15 seconds pretty fast. I will be adding more cameras soon.

This camera works great and it only took 2 days to get here-I am very pleased with the First Alert Store and the camera. I would recommend this camera to anyone who needs a security camera.

Security Cameras

I received my order very promptly. I would like to have seen just a little more clarity in the video.

Mounted the camera outside about 50ft from the receiver, with aluminum siding, crystal clera picture night or day, easy set up. Love it.
