The First Alert PR710 Slim Photoelectric Smoke Alarm with 10-Year Battery helps protect your home by providing up to a decade of uninterrupted monitoring. This low-profile smoke alarm uses an ultra-reliable photoelectric sensor to detect smoke from slow-burning, smoldering fires. Half as thick as a standard alarm, this detector has a slim, contemporary design that mounts unobtrusively on a wall or ceiling. A built-in 10-year lithium metal battery provides continuous power, with no need to ever worry about changing the battery over the lifetime of the smoke detector.
Photoelectric Sensor Warns of Smoldering Fires
The First Alert PR710 alarm comes equipped with a photoelectric sensor to provide the earliest possible warning of fire. The sensor is optimized to detect larger smoke particles produced by smoldering fires, such as those caused by unextinguished cigarettes. It also distinguishes between real threats and smoke/vapor produced during showering, cooking, and other everyday activities, helping minimize the number of false alarms. A patented smoke entry system helps ensure reliable detection by providing a direct air pathway to the sensor.

First one started chirping so I took it down and read the date that I scribed on the back which was 3-25-12. Time for a new one!!!!! PS: the official mfgr date was Oct 14, 2010, THEY WORK AS DESCRIBED.

Ease Of Mind for Good Protection
Decided to use the 10 year included battery for these rather than trying to remember to change batteries for smoke detectors. They always start chirping at 3 or 4 AM and drive the dogs crazy scared. Now I have 10 years of protection and comfort.

We needed to replace an aging First Alert Smoke Alarm on a high ceiling. The location is very challenging to access when we do our yearly battery replacement. Through the excellent website I was able to read about options. I then contacted customer service. 5 Stars to the person who helped me. He recommended the 10-year Sealed Battery after listening to our situation. We ordered from the First Alert Store online and received it in 2-3 days. Wow!! It's rare to be so happy with every step of the process. Kudos!
