We needed to replace an aging First Alert Smoke Alarm on a high ceiling. The location is very challenging to access when we do our yearly battery replacement. First one started chirping so I took it down and read the date that I scribed on the back which was 3-25-12. Time for a new one!!!!! PS: the official mfgr date was Oct 14, 2010, THEY WORK AS DESCRIBED.
Decided to use the 10 year included battery for these rather than trying to remember to change batteries for smoke detectors. They always start chirping at 3 or 4 AM and drive the dogs crazy scared. Now I have 10 years of protection and comfort.
