First Alert 2017F Fire and Water Protector Chest
The First Alert 2017F 0.19 Cubic Foot Fire and Water Chest is conveniently sized to store letter sized documents lying flat. This UL classified First Alert media protection chest tested to withstand an external temperature up to 1550° for 1/2 hour and independently verified to protect digital media, such as memory sticks, CD's, DVD's and external hard drives. The waterproof seal on the 2017F enables the chest to float during a flood, making it easy to locate, as well as providing protection from the flood water.
Independently Tested for Durability
Designed to withstand external temperatures of up to 1550° Fahrenheit for up to 30 minutes, this security safe has been independently verified to protect digital media such as memory sticks, CDs, DVDs, and external hard drives. The document safe helps keep your important documents, jewelry, money, and other small items safe from fire damage. The safe also features a waterproof seal which protects your valuables if the case happened to be sprayed or even submerged in water.

Clamping-Style Lock Secures Your Valuables

Q: How can I replace the keys or get the combination to my safe?
A: If you misplaced your keys, or forgot the combination to your safe, please fill out the Combination/Key Request Form, have it notarized and submit the completed form via email, mail, or fax. Contact information may be found on the form.
Q: Where can I find the key number?
A:
- Engraved on the key itself.
- Engraved on the lock cylinder.
- Engraved underneath the black plastic cap that says digital electronic safes.
- The silver sticker on the bottom right hand corner of the Anti-Theft Safes.
- On the key cover.
Q: My key is not broken, but it does not work in the safe. What should I do?
A: It may be possible that some debris/dust is caught in the lock of your unit. Please try the following:
- Check the engraved key number and verify it matches the engraved letter on the key cylinder.
- Spray WD-40 oil in the lock.
- Tap it lightly with a hammer.
- Try the key again. If the key still does not work please contact Consumer Affairs at 1-800-323-9005 for more information.

Good little safe
I like this little safe. While I haven't tested it in a fire thankfully it holds the documents I need it to. It has a very positive feeling seal to it, and the locking mechanism moves freely. This leads me to believe that it will maintain its function even after adverse conditions. The item came in an appropriate amount of packaging, AND was well protected. No damage seen.

Great Value
I decided to buy this chest after seeing multiple positive reviews for it across multiple sources including Wirecutter. For a waterproof and fireproof safe to cost less than $40 is amazing value. After receiving it, I was also impressed by how heavy and sturdy the chest was.

Closed a large SDB after 20 yes...this is a very perfect replacement for me..roomy and fits under bed!
